Company Social Responsibility Report 2022-2023

From our company’s very beginning, we have set the standard in reference to B Corp, Cradle to Cradle (C2C) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We realized that being socially responsible is a way of life both at work and at home. We strive to create a better life for all those who live on this earth.

Sustainability
We strive to become net zero, zero waste, low carbon emissions, recycle all materials, improve the environment by collecting material from illegally dumped sites. Our operations aim to produce our products without wasting time and energy on buying the wrong equipment. We work with our suppliers to foster sustainable practices, collect data on the current environmental footprint to continuously measure, evaluate and making our supply chain more sustainable. We are constantly testing and inventing new ceramics related products.

We strive to expand by working with other factories and share their production facilities to manufacture our products. It is more efficient, and costs are lower. We have collaborated with other industrial companies to research and recycle their waste.

Our products contribute to the green movement, and we aim for sustainability.

Workers’ Rights
We hire regardless of age, sex, or social standing. All staff are treated with respect and dignity. All staff receive salary, social benefits, legal holidays and basic training on health and safety. We also provide extra life insurance outside of the required social benefits. Most staff are encouraged to attend classes, conferences, and exhibitions to improve their ability to contribute to our company.

Clients’ Trust
Our relations with our clients are important to growing “green communities.” As designers and inventors, we offer advice on sustainability, encouraging clients to not only buy our products, but also think on a bigger level how to lower carbon emission and get certified themselves for using green materials. Our products are tested for strength, porosity, health concerns and circularity. In 2022 we have tested for fireproof and other requested certification as well applied for patents. We want to make the best product in the market and be responsible for it. All products can be sent back after use to be recycled again.

Community Involvement

• “Foolish Old Man Removes Mountain” Project involves making the community aware of the waste problem and teach them how to use fewer natural resources and recycle.
• Approached 100+ ceramic factories and studios in Jingdezhen and set up boxes for them to separate ceramic waste from domestic garbage.

Third Party Assessment
Our products are assessed according to C2C and green standards by third party assessors RESET, TUV Rheinland, Shanghai and Green Circle Certified.

Government Advisory
Yi Design has been in constant contact with local and national government agencies, encouraging the Jingdezhen government to recycle ceramic waste instead of dumping it in nature and calling for the government to support local industries that recycle.

The Next Step:
1) Improve factory operations
2) Increase use of renewable energy
3) The Lab will continue to research and develop products that emit low carbon, circular, useful to society and are part of the Green Movement in China
4) Collaborate with large corporations to resolve the ceramic waste problem
5) Work with other waste material industries to make innovative new material
6) Continue to call for separation of domestic and ceramic garbage in Jingdezhen and other ceramic production areas in China
7) Raise profile of our green community, and lead to a better life for all.
