Shanghai Museum of Glass

In 2022, the Shanghai Museum of Glass held an exhibition called “100%” to explore the sustainable potential of glass. The galleries are distributed throughout the museum and are made of shipping containers.

Every year, the glass studio of the Shanghai Museum of Glass produces about 1250kg of glass waste, so this time they approached us to find a way to combine the materials, and finally we decided to recycle their glass waste as well. The walls of the five container exhibition halls in the museum area are made of YiBrick, a special edition made of glass waste from Shanghai Museum of Glass and recycled ceramic materials designed by Yi. Each brick has about 0.14kg of glass waste added. The bricks will be reused as building materials for the museum after the exhibition.

Project Nio hero

NIO – Art of Horizon

To commemorate the fifth birthday of NIO’s new LOGO, Nio life excavated and collected handmade, intangible cultural heritage, and special craftsmanship elements from all over the world. Through the design, the NIO logo was skillfully integrated into lacquer, cement tiles, and recycled ceramics to achieve modernity and harmony. A clever fusion of traditions.

Among them, the recycled ceramic brooches are made of the finest parts from more than 2,000 tons of recycled waste materials. Each piece is unique and gives a second life to discarded ceramics.

starbucks

Starbucks takes action

This is the first coffee + community building station jointly established by Tongji University and the coffee chain Starbucks. It is the first Starbucks to co-create a space with Tongji University, integrating multiple functions such as a physical prototype store, innovative education space, and an industrial incubator.

In this project, recycled ceramic and customized green imitation marble tiles are mainly used in the bar of Starbucks to match the color of the space. Recycled ceramic permeable bricks are used in the outdoor floor area.

Project COS -hero

Cos retail project

COS has been focusing on sustainability for many years, not only in product changes and development, packaging and business management efforts to achieve environmental protection, but also in the use of recycled environmental materials in many stores.

The handmade brick selected for the vertical wall of the new COS store project located in Shishihui Square, Pudong New District, Shanghai, retains the natural variation of the depth of the blue glaze. The particle feeling of recycled ceramic mud under the glaze matches the blank laying in the gap, which is like the light wind and thin waves on the sea, and the boundless smoke and water. The oval surface of the inner beam adopts the transparent color of YiTile full ceramic tile series. The recycled ceramic after breaking is used as the background color of ceramic tile, presenting a sandy and granular feeling. The transparent glaze applied on its surface is like a splash of light aroused by waves, which magnifies YiTile’s retention and re-presentation of nature.
